Bio
Steven L. Wilson- President
Steve has a unique and extensive background that includes technology, consulting services, collaboration with non-profit organizations, and responsibilities for the sales and marketing operations of multiple new corporate ventures.
After eight years in the healthcare industry, Steve spent four years providing longitudinal research for the School of Medicine at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Ca. While there, he created and implemented marketing, advertising, and public relations operations for the world-renowned research center, which was developing cutting-edge solutions for patients with chronic illness. In cooperation with national and international non-profit organizations, he also managed the implementation of a community-based health improvement course while at the University. The course was disseminated and adopted across the United States and in four additional countries.
He left academia to enter Silicon Valley and the industry of Electronic Design Automation. He led the national sales and marketing operations for successful high-tech, start-up companies that provided deep sub-micron computer chip technology.
After leaving the software industry, Steve entered the consulting services industry and created the infrastructure and sales organization for a new technical, executive-level, permanent placement business unit for one of the largest IT consulting firms in the nation.
He arrived in Richmond in 2000 and successfully opened a new regional branch for a technology consulting firm headquartered in the Northeast. He grew the local organization independently for three years becoming the firm's top national producer. Steve went on to become the Atlantic Coast Regional Executive for an Indiana-based technology consulting firm. The position was created for him to facilitate the successful development of new East Coast operations.
Steve then co-founded Impact Makers, a Professional Services consulting firm that was the first to pioneer a different model that benefits both society and business. The company continues to deliver economic value and maximizes wealth creation for the community — as opposed to private stakeholders. In his role as President of Impact Makers, Steve built the company's infrastructure and managed the growth of business development, public relations, and marketing operations.
The creation of VISION Consulting allows Steve to propagate the new business model he helped to establish. As Co-founder and President, he intends to continue to illustrate, to both the business community and the non-profit sector, that competitive social ventures work.
